Letter to Boston Pizza

Dear BP,

Shame on you for changing your menu and taking off every single meal that I could eat! My boyfriend and I used to go to your restaurant here in Sudbury almost every time we went out for dinner, we enjoyed it that much. We went the other night with another couple...and what did I find? Californian pizza? Gone. Cheese-less tomato sauce for pasta? Gone. Ginger chicken noodles (sans chicken)? Gone.

Of course, I could have gone with the vegetarian pizza without cheese...but boring! So I opted for the thai chicken salad without chicken. Yuck. First of all, I'm sick of never getting the yummy garnishes that the menu boasts. There were no sesame seeds or peanuts!! It was just a boring salad with an okay peanut sauce. Even my pina colada was off...oh wait, that's because you gave me a chi chi instead. Le sigh.

So, in closing, my ex-best friends...East Side Mario's will be our new hangout, with their scrumptious bruschetta and several pasta options. East Side Mario's is the new Boston Pizza.

Sincerely,

A Disgruntled Vegan

East Side Marios changed their menu as well. They now have pretty much no vegetarian or vegan options (not that there were many to start with). Even their nachos are no longer vegetarian. Luckily, when I went there, I was able to get them to prepare their nachos (sans cheese) the old way (with bruschetta rather than beef) .

That is incredibly frustrating... I know just what you mean, too. Very upsetting. I hope they will take note of this...

Wow. Good on you for complaining. I wonder if all Boston PIzzas have changed their menu... if so... I am another disgruntled vegan. Argh.

I'll be curious if you get a response Melissa. I really hate it when places like that change their menu. And it's usually not for the better.

Hi Melissa...so frustrating! I have a similar complaint about Wendy's. no veggie burgur, no salad without meat on it? What's up with that.

PS - I didn't know you lived in Sudbury! I'm originally from New Liskeard and spent tonnes of time in Sudbury growing up! Small world!

Vegans/Vegetarians are quite a minority in the dining world. You can't expect mainstream/chain restaurants to carry a vast array of vegetarian dishes because it won't make them money in the long run. It sucks that they took it off, but it was probably a business decision not an evil plot against vegetarians. It's your choice at the end of the day whether or not to be vegetarian so you can't expect every chain restaurant to cater to one persons needs. Go support small business and find a restaurant that specializes in vegetarian dishes. Vegans and vegetarians have to realize that it was their choice and you have to realize that with that choice comes a limited amount of stuff you can eat. And that goes for anywhere, not just Boston Pizza. Don't complain, it was your choice.

OK :)

Don't read the blog then. I realize that chain restaurants don't or shouldn't cater to only veg*ns, but it would be smart to have a few options. My letter was merely stating that I won't be returning because there is nothing there for me. And for what it's worth I hardly go to chains anymore and I do support local businesses.

Have a nice day
DFTB peeps!
